UNION ANESTHESIA ASSOCIATES, P.A.
Dr. Wayne Fleischhacker is chief, division of
anesthesiology and pain management at Union Hospital.
Dr. Wayne Fleischhacker received his training at Temple
University Hospital and has the following
certifications: American Board of Anesthesiology,
American Academy of Pain Management, National Board of
Osteopathic
Medical Examiners, Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Lumbar, Thoracic and Cervical Discography, Percutaneous
Disc Decompression, Intradiscal Chemonucleolysis,
Implantation of Spinal Cord Stimulators, Radiofrequency
Ablation Neurotomy.
Dr. Michael Wilcenski has
been an attending anesthesiologist at Union Hospital
since 1999. He attended medical school at SUNY Health
Science Center at Brooklyn where he was also the chief
anesthesiology resident. He holds New York and New
Jersey licensures. He is board certified by the American
Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Edward Novik has been an
attending anesthesiologist at Union Hospital since
August 1997. He received his medical license from
Samarkand State Medical School in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
He holds New York and New Jersey licensures. Dr. Novik
is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management
by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Steven Shane has been an
attending anesthesiologist at Union Hospital since
January 1985. After attending University of Michigan and
Oakland University, he went on to the University of
Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences. He has
diplomats from American Osteopathic College of
Anesthesiologists and the National Board of Osteopathic
Examiners.
Dr. Randolph Kahn has been
an attending anesthesiologist with Union Anesthesia
Asssociates, P.A. at Union Hospital since July 1994. He
attended St. John’s University where he obtained a
bachelor’s of pharmaceutical science. He went on to
attend New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has
a diplomat from the American Board of Anesthesiology and
the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. He
is a board certified pharmacist.

SURGICAL ASSOCIATES
Robert J. Oberhand, MD, FACS completed his residency
training in Otolaryngology at Columbia Presbyterian
Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of
Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery. He has been in
private practice in Westfield for thirty-two years, and
has been an active member of the Overlook medical
staff throughout that time. He has served as president
of the medical staff , chief of surgery and chairman of
the medical executive committee. He has served on many
important Overlook and AHS committees. He is an emeritus
member of the medical executive committee, Overlook
Hospital advisory board and Overlook Foundation board.
William Drake III, MD, FACS
finished his residency training in otolaryngology — head
and neck surgery at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in 1994. He
then joined Dr. Oberhand in private practice in
Westfield and joined the Overlook Hospital medical
staff. Dr. Drake rapidly earned the respect of the
entire Overlook Community for this clinical acumen,
surgical skills, and great concern and compassion for
his patients. He is certified by the American Board of
Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery. He is presently
the section chairman of the otolaryngology department at
Overlook Hospital and has been an active member of the
surgical review committee at Overlook
Hospital for the past five years. Dr. Drake is also one
of the founding members of the Center for Ambulatory
Surgery in Mountainside, and is presently one of the
managing partners. Dr. Drake has been recognized by his
peers and voted as one of the “Best Doctors in the New
York Metro Area” in the Castle Connolly guide every year
since 1997. Most recently, he was listed as one of the
“Top Doctors” in the 2005 edition of New Jersey Monthly
Magazine and the 2005 edition of New York Magazine.

WESTFIELD ORTHOPEDIC GROUP
Dr. Todd Krell is
a partner at the Westfield Orthopedic Group, where he
has practiced for the last eighteen years.
Dr. Krell was born in
Brooklyn, NY. He attended Brooklyn College, was named to
the dean’s list every semester, and graduated Magna Cum
Laude, in 1978. He attended medical school at N.Y.
Medical College. There, he was a founding member of the
Phi Delta Epsilon medical society, and was elected to
the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society after only two
years. He graduated with honors, and was given the
prestigious Merck Manual award. He did his orthopedic
residency at N.Y. U., and was chief resident in 1987. He
completed his training with two Sports Medicine
Fellowships, one at N.Y.U., helping to care for the N.Y.
Islanders and N.J. Devils hockey
teams, and the N.Y. Yankees baseball team, the other in
San Diego, studying under world renowned surgeon, Dr.
Dale Daniel.
The Westfield Orthopedic
Group was proud to have Daniel A. Shaw, MD, a board
certified orthopedic surgeon, join them in 1995. Rapid
rehabilitation is one of Dr. Shaw’s strongest priorities
for his patients.
Dr. Shaw earned his medical
degree from University of Michigan Medical School. His
orthopedic surgery training was completed at Michigan
State University. Dr. Shaw then sough subspecialty
expertise by completing a one-year Fellowship at the
prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. While
at Baylor, Dr. Shaw had the opportunity to assist in
providing the orthopedic care for several professional
sports teams, including the Houston Oilers (NFL),
Houston Rockets (NBA) and the Houston Astros (MLB). “The
surgical and rehabilitation techniques which I utilized
at Baylor have allowed me to transfer so much benefit to
all of my patients, younger and older,” Dr. Shaw says.
