MOTHER SETON REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

Mother Seton Regional High School, located in Clark, New Jersey is a Catholic secondary school for girls. Founded in 1963, Mother Seton is a high school of the Archdiocese of Newark and is staffed by the Sisters of Charity of Convent Station, New Jersey and lay faculty members.

Mother Seton will begin the school year with a “Welcome Freshman Picnic” hosted by the Big Sister committee scheduled for the Thursday before Labor Day. The Big Sister committee has been making plans for the welcome under the direction of Mrs. Maureen Connell, director of administrative Services and moderator of the freshman class. “There is a special spirit at Mother Seton, something that goes beyond the excellent academics, beyond the cutting-edge technologies and beyond the sense of our Mother Seton community,” notes Mrs. Connell. In addition, there will be a freshman orientation program on the first day of school.

When classes begin, students will have the opportunity to set goals for a successful school year. Our math, current events, science and forensics teams will be looking forward to maintaining their successes. Our Catholic Schools Mathematics Team placed 5th out of 22 teams. In the National Current Events Olympiad, our junior-senior
team captured 3rd place honors nationally, out of 54 participating school and placed 1st in New Jersey. In this same competition, our freshman team placed 2nd nationally out of 26 schools, and 1st in New Jersey. The chemistry I team placed 1st in the district and 38th in the state. One of the members or our forensics team earned the honor of participating in the National Catholic Forensics League competition held in Chicago.

Several students participated in various summer enrichment programs. Approximately 45 students and alumnae volunteered at Camp Fatima in Lebanon, New Jersey. This is a one-to-one camp for mentally and physically challenged children. Members of our junior class participated in the National Student Leadership Conference and the National Youth Leadership Program on Medicine. In addition, three students attended the Mini-Medical School at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. These classes were held throughout the school year providing lectures, small group discussions, hands-on experiences and guided tours to our students.

“We feel strongly that our unique combination of academic excellence and Seton spirit in our nurturing environment is what makes Mother Seton Regional High School an outstanding choice for a young woman. Our focus is on the student as an individual encouraging her to develop her potential in her faith, in her academics, in her leadership skills as well as socially through various activities,“ states Joan Barron, assistant principal.
