Area Holiday Events

CLARK
Have breakfast with Santa on Nov. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. Gran Centurions, 440 Madison Hill Rd., Call 732-388-3600 to reserve space. There will be pictures with Santa, pony/hay rides, live music, puppet shows, refreshments, face painting and guaranteed snow at the at the Clark Recreation/Municipal Building from 3 to 6 p.m. The Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony will follow at 6 p.m.

CRANFORD
On Dec. 9 there will be photos with Santa at Eastman Plaza from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Dec. 16 , Santa will be at the Gazebo from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be trolley rides from 1 to 4 p.m.

ELIZABETH
The holiday season will begin early this year as the Elizabeth Avenue Partnership has announced that their 8th Annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. at Union Square Plaza between Elizabeth Avenue and First Avenue. Santa Claus will join Mayor Chris Bollwage, city Officials and EAP Directors to light the tree, which marks the official start of the holiday season on Elizabeth Avenue. A DJ, live band and holiday costume characters will be on hand to join the festivities while hot chocolate and cookies will be served compliments of the Elizabeth Development Company’s Urban Enterprise Zone Program (UEZ).

The events will consist of four Saturdays of Free Children’s Entertainment (Dec. 2, 9, 16 and 23) and will be chock full of holiday fun with “Free Photos with Santa” from 12 to 3 p.m. at Banco Popular, 817 Elizabeth Ave.

The EAP will also sponsor a Live Petting Zoo at Union Square on Dec 2 and 16 and Pony Rides on Dec. 9 and Dec. 23. Holiday music and strolling holiday costumed
characters will also be out entertaining the children.

The EAP is also once again sponsoring the very popular “free parking on Elizabeth Avenue” program for two weeks in December leading up to Christmas.

The EAP will once again be placing a Santa’s Mailbox on Union Square for the holiday season where children will be able to place a letter to Santa Claus.

KENILWORTH
Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Borough Hall. Kenilworth Holiday House Decorating Contest on Dec. 17, 6 to 8 p.m. Houses that have won in the past are not eligible. Call 908-272-4995.

PLAINFIELD
Holiday Horse & Wagon Rides on Dec. 9 from noon to 3 p.m. The staging areas are Plainwood Square Park (South Avenue) and the YWCA on E. Front Street. Rides are free.

RAHWAY
The Rahway Center Partnership is sponsoring the following events:

Festival of Trees & Wreaths: Nov. 24, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.; Nov. 25, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 26, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rahway Recreation Center.

Holiday Market: Nov. 25, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov.  26, 10 a.m. 6 p.m. at the Rahway Recreation Center.

26th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, Nov. 24, 7 p.m. Santa & Mrs. Claus will be returning with photos.

ROSELLE PARK
A tree lighting ceremony on will take place on Dec. 1 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Michael Mauri Gazebo Park on the corner of Corner of Chestnut Street and Grant Avenue. An open house with refreshments following the tree lighting ceremony at Casano Community Center at 314 Chestnut St. The Holiday Parade will take place on Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. The parade starts at Sherman School and Ends at Michael Mauri Gazebo Park. Open house with refreshments following the parade at Casano Community Center.

SPRINGFIELD
Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 100 Mountain Ave.

UNION TOWNSHIP
Tree Lighting Dec. 3 in front of the Municipal Building, 1976 Morris Ave. Emceed by Mayor Peter Capodice. Entertainment starting at 5 p.m. Union Municipal Band Brass Ensemble with John Bunnell, Director. Hannah Caldwell Elementary School 4th Grade Chorus with Maria Magliaro Politano, Director. Santa’s Arrival and Tree Lighting starting at 6 p.m. Pictures with Santa Claus in the Municipal Building.
