Camelback Ski Area

As their 44th winter season approaches, Camelback Ski Area is completing construction on the all new Burton Progression Park Program. This new program requires both a Learning Park and an Advanced Park.

The existing Laurel Glade terrain park is currently being re-configured to a learning park. Features include smaller rails and boxes as well as a 6 ft walled half pipe that is being constructed.

All elements in the Laurel Glade park will be designed specifically for the beginner skier or rider.

The Rhododendron Glen, home to Camelback’s Advanced Park, will feature a wall ride, a c-bow box as well as 4 new rails for terrain park enthusiasts. To accompany the new park is the addition of a competition sized 13’6” half-pipe which has been completed on Oak Grove.

Access to the Rhodo Advanced Park will be restricted to those freestylers who have obtained a park pass after viewing a mandatory Smart Style safety video. There is no additional fee for the Advanced Park pass and the certification will be offered daily.

Both pipes will be cut and groomed this winter with the new Zaugg pipe groomer, which is scheduled to arrive at Camelback next week from Switzerland. The Zaugg groomer is the latest in pipe grooming technology and will help keep both pipes groomed at competition levels.

“We’re excited to build a park geared toward the advanced rider,” says Greg Irvin, head of park and pipe grooming. Irvin continues, “The addition of the Zaugg groomer is sure to keep our pipe competition-ready.”

Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort

Whether it’s skiing or snowboarding from beginner to expert, a getaway or getting the kids on the slopes for the first time, Jiminy Peak has something for everyone. This
jewel of a resort is just three hours from northern New Jersey, tucked away in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Jiminy Peak, the largest ski and snowboard resort in southern New England, offers slope-side lodging, a high speed six-passenger lift and simply incredible snowmaking. Forty-four trails, eight lifts, a beautiful and unique Village Center with shops and restaurants, plus three terrain parks and a half pipe combine to create a resort the whole family can enjoy.

Jiminy Peak has SnowSports School for teens and adults at all levels, as well as SKIwee programs for kids aged four to twelve. New to the resort this year, Jiminy Peak has been chosen as a Burton Learn To Ride Center and a Kids Learn To Ride Center. Brand new Burton boards line the rental shop and the mountain was selected by Burton because of the great learning programs Jiminy already has in place. Learn to Ride boards are more flexible and easier to maneuver for folks and kids who might be using new muscles and learning new skills. And did we mention?, Jiminy Peak was named by the readers of Ski Magazine as the #8 ranked family program in the nation.

Also new this year is the Mountain Coaster. Jiminy unveiled the only Mountain Coaster on the east coast and one of only three in the US. This attraction takes riders up the mountain 1000 feet and then unleashes for 2600 feet of twisting turning fun through the woods! And best of all- you can choose to brake, or go full speed, for those more daring! The Coaster, which debuted this summer, was such a hit, that Jiminy Peak will run it all winter long, holidays and weekends. Tubing is always a popular choice for anyone non-skiing or taking the day away from the slopes. Jiminy Tubing at Snowy Owl Resort offers up to eight lanes of family fun.

The Country Inn at Jiminy is offering lift and lodging packages all winter long. Each of the newly renovated suites consists of a master bedroom with king size bed, living area with queen sleeper sofa featuring memory foam for a great sleep, and modernized kitchens. Guests can also enjoy the Inn’s health club, Jacuzzi, outdoor heated pool and a new massage area! Jiminy Peak also offers two and three bedroom vacation homes, both slope-side and in the base area for larger groups and families.

year-old New England mountain village reveals itself as a winter wonderland.

Skiing in Stowe is Better Than Ever

Be Active Off-Mountain, Too
We’re blessed with some of the best terrain and snow conditions for dog sledding in the east — you can even learn to be a musher!

Or perhaps a tiny bit slower pace: there is a host of sleigh riding options in Stowe, from romantic 2 person sleigh rides to larger group sleighs.

Stowe is home to some of the most extensive and diverse trails in the East, making it the perfect destination resort for winter’s fastest-growing sport: snowshoeing. Anyone who likes to walk or hike in the summer can snowshoe in the winter, as long as they’re prepared for the weather — it’s that simple.

Stowe’s interconnected cross-country ski centers provide more than 150km of groomed and 100km of backcountry trails criss-crossing Stowe’s landscape.

If all this activity is just too much, you’ll be thrilled to know that Stowe is home to not one, but two world-class destination spas. The gifted massage therapists and aestheticians at either Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa or Topnotch Resort & Spa will be happy to calm and rejuvenate.

Stowe offers over 70 unique and boutique shops, 40 restaurants, and almost 50 different lodging establishments ranging from full service resorts to quaint bed and breakfasts.
